MY ENGLISH LEARNING JOURNEY (MELJo)
Start your JESC membership by answering this question:
“What do I want to get better at?”
MELJo helps you set a goal, create learning plan, record feedbacks, and see how your speaking and communication skills develop.
MELJo is developed and owned by ELSI.
BELONGING TAKES PART
JESC is for professionals and working adults in Jogja who want to become better speakers and communicators in English.
Success means making time to show up, taking part, preparing speak, and seek feedback. Apply at work, connect with other members to share what go well and what are difficult.
Members should allow at least eight hours a month.
A one-time joining fee and an annual membership fee support JESC’s activities and operations.
Twice-monthly Meetups, Members Chat, Town Hall, and access to MELJo are included in membership fee.
Food and drinks at in-person venues are an additional cost. Public visitors pay a one-off fee to attend Townhall.
Fee details will be updated in early November 2026.
Professional community management. Learning and event management. Safe and inclusive spaces to learn, exchange feedback, and circle of supporting people.
Your progress depends on your investment on time and effort; JESC cannot promise specific results.
JESC welcomes members to volunteer running our operations. Role details and possible membership will be shared to members. Meeting roles such as speaking or giving feedback are part of learning and are separate from operational work.
Volunteering helps you practice speaking, communication and leadership in safe space.
JESC membership is intended for working adults. Students who also work may join if they meet the membership criteria.
JESC members engage on issues around works, careers and professional development
ROOTED IN JOGJA
JESC began on 11 April 2026, initiated by Endro together with other co-founders. Members have since came to connect and practise English.
When JESC turned six months old in October 2026, the club saw an opportunity to put more focus on learning: setting goals, giving feedback, and using communication skills in work and everyday life.
Today, Jogja English Speakers and Communicators carries that purpose forward, with members learning from and supporting each other.
KEEP UPDATED
Follow JESC for activity updates, membership news,
and fee details (early November 2026).
Membership is intended for professionals, entrepreneurs, and other working adults. Students who are also working may join if they meet the membership criteria.
Students, especially final-year students, who are not yet working but preparing for professional life, are welcome to apply for operational volunteer roles. Through these roles, they can earn credits towards their joining fee or membership fee when they later become eligible for membership. The responsibilities and credit arrangements will be agreed before volunteering begins.
There will be a one-time joining fee and annual membership fee. The exact amount of these fees will be published at the end of October.
JESC operates to support members’ learning, rather than to distribute profits. Membership income is used for JESC’s operations and development, including venue rental, website development, Google and Zoom subscriptions, and stationery. Any surplus is retained to support future activities and operating needs.
Endro, JESC’s initiator, manages the club as a volunteer and is accountable for its operations and finances. He will share a monthly report with members covering activities, income, expenditure, and the remaining balance.
No. JESC commits to providing an organised learning environment with structured practice, opportunities for feedback, and support for reviewing progress. It cannot guarantee a particular outcome or rate of improvement.
Progress depends on how members participate, use feedback, and apply their learning, as well as their starting points and circumstances. Financial investment supports access to this learning environment; members’ time and effort help turn those opportunities into progress.
Yes. Members may request a refund during their active annual membership if they have met the participation and learning commitments communicated before joining but remain dissatisfied with their progress towards their learning goals.
The review will consider their participation, learning reflections, use of feedback, and efforts to apply their learning. An exit interview is required to discuss their experience and provide feedback for JESC.
If the request meets the refund conditions, JESC will refund the unused portion of the annual membership fee according to the calculation explained before joining. The joining fee is non-refundable.
